Sažetak
This paper presents the methods used to the delineation of the Bošnjaci well field protection zones in a hydrogeologically complex aquifer system in eastern Slavonia, Croatia. To calculate catchment area of the Bošnjaci well field, ground water travel-time criteria was applied using the analytic element method of groundwater modeling. Specifically, the groundwater flow model WhAEM2000 was used that uses Graphical User Interface (GUI) and Geographic Analytic Element Preprocessor, GAEP. The conceptual hydrogeologic model was built that identified the hydrostratigraphy, recharge zones, discharge zones and generalized flow directions in research area. The conceptual model revealed that the limitation and control zone could be reduced significantly due to the existence of extensive aquitards. The perimeter of the 10-year travel-time zone was selected as the limitation and control zone boundary to account for the sensitivity of the aquifer to contamination.
