Sažetak
Rehabilitation goals for people with traumatic brain injury vary according to presence of one or more impairments, whether physical, cognitive, emotional, behavioural disturbances or psychological reaction. The tendencies in the world and our own experiences are showing the need for closer co-operation of rehabilitation participants in order to ensure continuity of hospital and post-hospital care. Co-operation between the Special Hospital for Rehabilitation in Krapinske Toplice (leading institution for traumatic brain injury in the Republic of Croatia) and the program of the community based rehabilitation of the General Hospital "Sveti Duh" and Health Centre in Trnje is a result of this aspiration. In assessment of the rehabilitating potential we observe the person, his/her family and local community. Increasing independence of the injured person is a permanent effort, as well as giving support to the family in dealing with severe impairments. We emphasise the role of expert, who beside his clinical knowledge and skill has to be an educator and manager and keep on verifying and improving his skills.
