Sažetak
Immune complexes differ in physicochemical and biological properties. None of the numerous methods employed can detect all different circulating immune complexes. Therefore, a parallel use of a battery of tests, based on various principles, is proposed. We used four methods: polyethylene glycol precipitation based on physicochemical property, Raji cell assay based on the complement binding property, migration inhibition test and phagocytosis inhibition test based on the Fc- receptor binding property to test immune complexes in the sera of rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and and different other diseases (psoriatic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, myocharditis), as well as healthy controls. Our aim was to establish whether this combination of tests could successfully detect the presence of circulating immune complexes, and whether one of the tests would prove more suitable than the others for a given disease. Although there was no cerrelation between the results obtained by any two of the tests, we found a significant association among the four tests.
