Sažetak
Present technological level in weaving allows use of mass customization principle already for past ten years. This means that CAD and CAM (electronic Jacquard) systems for weaving are capable of producing almost any pattern and any kind of woven fabrics with minimum delivery time, desired quantity and quality and with similar or even lower cost of production compared with serial products. Regarding competitiveness this would be the advantage for producers from areas with higher labour costs compared to those with lower labour costs. One of the advantages would be local production for local needs and consequently shortest possible time of delivery. Local production would have also large influence on keeping knowledge in these areas. There are also possibilities to incorporate buyers in the designing process and to enlarge selling by internet or other kind of electronic media. In spite of many efforts to make mass customization in textile production as a priority and high level technological development on the weaving field, there is a general opinion that mass customization is not as suitable for woven fabric production as for garment. In article present and future possibilities for mass customization in weaving and possible bottle necks in the woven fabric production are presented regarding technological, traditional, and economic trends.
