Sažetak
The Annual Report on Croatian Competitiveness is a publication that the National Competitiveness Council produces every two years. It represents a barometer of the current situation in the main areas of national competitiveness. It provides an objective evaluation of the situation, identifies strengths and weaknesses of Croatian competitiveness compared to other countries and pinpoints their causes. The report is intended for government agencies, as well as all social partners, the broader professional and general public, and institutions that can influence the development of competitiveness in Croatia. Croatia has recorded a large jump in the international rankings of competitiveness. It is now between 51st and 59th place, depending on the system of measurement. In an optimistic scenario, and with the continuation of current trends, Croatia should be able to reach the average of the EU 6, made up of the new members of the EU, in 3-5 years, and to enter the group of the 40 leading countries in the competitiveness rankings. For that to happen, significantly enhanced efforts and accelerated changes will be necessary.
