Sažetak
The paper deals with the elite of the urban settlements of medieval Slavonia. It is shown that in these new cities, created by colonisation, the basic precondition for entering the city elite was simply success in business. Besides that, a settler had to make permanent residence in the city, to acquire as much real estate as he can, as well as to show that he can be integrated to the local community, but there was no other special preconditions (such as origin, prior connections, and similar). However, integration into the local community elite might be facilitated by other means such were marriage connections with the locals or connections with the court.
