Sažetak
During the last decade there has been a continuous effort to develop more sensitive technique for the detection and monitoring of minimal residual disease (MRD) in patients treated for acute leukemia (AL). This approach may help clinicians to redefine the criteria used to classify remission and to evaluate the efficacy os specific threapeutic strategies both in vivo and ex vivo (purging technique), with the ultimate goal to tailor therapy to needs of each patients. Immunologic detection of MRD has been considerably improved by advances in multiparameter flow cytometric analysis (MFC), a technique that permits sensitive detection of specific cell types in a heterogenous cell population.
