Sažetak
The issue of drug abuse has been much expolited in recent years in Croatia, not only for scientific purposes but also for political and other goals. The estimates of the proportion of drug abuse among the young population varied so much that one serious scientific research had to be done in order to analyze these problems in depth. We used sampling method to investigate not only drug abse, but also smoking habits and alcohol abuse among the youth. In this paper we present the relationships between the situation within the family and misbehaviour of the youth. We found that these realtionships are rather strong, concerning especially these issues: the education of parents, the employment status, financial situation, marriage status, human behaviour within the family, medical situation in the family, smoking status of parents, the use of alcohol within the family. Correlating all of those variables with the youth behaviour we found that the family impact is very strong and also the situation within the family is to blame very much for misbehaviour of the youth. This is particularly true for smoke habits and alcohol abuse, since the youngsters try to imitate their parents. When living without parents or with the only one parent the situation is getting worse. Also, strong (tough) education produces diverse effects than expected.
