Sažetak
IL-6 is a pleiotropic cytokine mapped to chromosome 7p21-24. Its promoter SNP -174 G/C is associated with high serum cytokine production, and according to current investigation can play a role in the development and progression of different gastrointestinal malignancies. We tested its genotypes in the gastrointestinal and pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs). High expression genotypes of IL-6 -174 SNP are more frequent in non-functional PETs and may be a marker for the mentioned malignancies.
