Sažetak
The integrity of the cultural heritage in the Republic of Croatia, for the first time has been conceived in its vital entity, by real evaluation and interpretation of tourist image of municipalities and smaller urban communities in the context of their preservation and conservation by the Strategic plan for the development of cultural tourism, and by establishing the Cultural Tourism Office, and the carrying out of the responsibilities of the Department in charge for development of selective tourism and physical planning of tourist policies within the Directorate for tourist associations network and selective tourism of the Ministry of the Sea, Tourism, Transport. The Strategy of cultural tourism which is foreseen to be implemented within the period of the next four years, will provide, in the first place the necessary prerequisites for a continuing development of cultural tourism in Croatia based on detailed development plan. It will boost the attractiveness and image of entire destination, and it will make it pleasant for a longer stay of guests, who will be motivated to take action by diversified offer (and higher spending), and finally, it will help extend the overall season. Upgrading the image of destination by continuing development of cultural tourist products will attract new profiles of visitors. This could be attributed to the fact that cultural heritage according to a national heritage development plan was made on sustainable principles ensuring cultural resources for the future generations. The implementation of the Strategy and the related initiatives will depend on the operation of the Cultural Tourism Office, respective ministries, Croatian National Tourist Board and the network of tourist associations, in addition to the institutions in charge of culture, Croatian Chamber of Economy, Association of the Croatian Travel Agencies, and more significantly the participation and co-operation of institutions and individuals on local and regional level. This complex management requires funds for its operation, which are partly available by the state budget. By full implementation of the Strategy and related activities of the Cultural Tourism Office - the tourism itself, and in particular, cultural heritage tourism in the Republic of Croatia - will become a positive instrument for more dynamic growth.
