Sažetak
Protection of game from diseases is important for several reasons. It is mainly health of the animals itself, which under the conditions of this country are at an increasing rate exposed to the attacks of negative factors arising from the activity of man. The latter markedly increased the effect of pathogens which circulate in their territory. In order to assess prevalence of Taenia species in wild carnivores, 323 animals were investigated. The taenias were represented by 7 species: Taenia hydatigena (Pallas, 1766), Taenia krabbei (Moniez, 1879) syn. T. cervi (Christiansen, 1931), Tetratirotaenia polyacantha (Leucart, l856), Mesocestoides litteratus, M. lineatus (Goeze, 1782), Ralliet, 1843 and Echinococcus multilocularis. The presence of T. hydatigena was established in 12 red foxes and 2 wolves and a T. cervi in 1 wolf and 3 foxes. The relatively high percentage of invadedness of the hosts of Taenia hydatigena and T. cervi indicates that they play an important role in spreading cysticercoses in cloven-hoofed game in the open. The presence of Cysticercus taenuicollis (Taeniae hydatigenae) was found at various distribution rate in 3 species of above mentioned game (red deer, roe deer, fallow deer) and Cysticercus cervi (T. cervi syn.T. krabbei) in the myocard of red deer.
