Sažetak
The construction of a dam on the river has an influence on the discharge of sediment and modifications of the river channel.
The construction of the hydropower plant Novo Virje is in the course of preparation. The previously made morphological model of the section of the Drava river from Botovo to Terezino Polje provided the basis for the simulation of the case with a water stair existing at Novo Virje. So, this future state of the river was modelled.
The modelling was done using the HEC-6 software package. One-dimensional modelling was performed, i.e. only vertical changes of the channel were analysed. The 74 km long section was represented with 117 cross sections, and several model variants were made. Each variant deals with different geologic basement and sediment discharge data.
The adopted model of boundary conditions was rearranged into two sub-models, and the new elements related to the existence of the planned hydropower plant were added. The simulation was performed for the 8- and 15-year period after the construction of the dam, which made possible the prediction of the morphological changes of the channel upstream and downstream of the dam.
The performed modelling enabled the identification of the locations with significant morphological changes, which provides a wider scope of possibilities regarding the engineering solutions.
