Sažetak
In the construction of tram tracks in urban zones, efforts should be made to reduce noise and vibration caused during the movement of tram vehicles. The main causes for increased vibrations include wheel irregularities (wheel flats, non-round wheel form) and uneven rail surface (corrugations, rail weld geometry). This paper presents a study of the impact of rail weld geometry on tram wheel vibrations during conditions of constant driving speeds, where the regular interval of rail welds (usually every 15 m) causes periodical excitation. Measurements were performed on tram tracks on routes where irregularities in weld zones were previously recorded. Wheel vibration measurements were carried out on the CROTRAM low floor tram TMK 2200 (Croatia) which features wheels with elastic elements (resilient wheels). Measurement results were used to recommend the permissible tolerance of rail surface geometry in weld zones in order to both reduce the intensity of tram wheel vibrations and also to reduce the dynamic impact of the vehicle on the track and to increase passenger comfort.
