Sažetak
On the basis of their founding acts, numerous testaments and contracts, as well as report of the earliest apostolic visitation (the 1579 visitation of Agostino Valier, archbishop of Verona who visited the entire Dalmatia), the early history of some of the medieval Dalmatian hospitals is discussed. They reflect contemporary trends in the hospital organisation of the contemporary European counterpart regions – in the first place the Venetian Republic, of which Dalmatia throughout its history was an integral part.
