Sažetak
The Croatian coastal area is the most productive part of the Adriatic Sea. The qualitative and quantitative analyses of catches were made to estimate state of costal ichthyocommunities in 2005 (together with other sampled invertebrates). Experimental catches of trammel bottom sets with standard construction characteristics (length: 31-36 m ; height: 1.3-1.5 m ; “ maha” mesh size 28 and 32 mm) were analysed. The samples were taken seasonally (April, July, Septemper, December) on 6 areas (Zadar, Šibenik, Vis, Split, Ploče, Dubrovnik). All the data on the catch quaqntities were expressed per standard net (CPUE) for the comparability of catches. The total of 87 fish, 4 cephalopoda and 18 crustacean species were recorded on the whole area of investigation. The dominant fish species were Spicara maena, Scporpaena porcus, Diplodus annularis, Mullus surmuletus, Symphodus tinca, Pagellus erythrinus and Scorpaena scrofa and they comprised 61.8 % in total number and with 66.9 % in total weight. The cephalopoda were represented by 2.4 % in total number and 7.8 % in total weight. The dominant species were Sepia officinalis. Commercialy important crustacean species comprised 73.6 % in number and 77.0 % in total weight. Qualitatively and quantitatively, the best catces were in Vis area. The long-standing trend (from 1960) of decline in total CPUE, decline or increase in CPUE for some familly and decline in length frequnces for dominant species are still the same showing that today fishing intensity is even greater.
