Sažetak
The reproductive biology and sexual pattern of Serranus hepatus (Linnaeus, 1758) were examined in the eastern Adriatic Sea (Croatian coast). From May 2002 to June 2003. The total length (TL) of all observed specimens ranged from 58 to 130mm. 50% of the population pf this species sexually matured at 85mm TL. Spawning took place from May to September, with a peak in May, June and July. Histological analyses of 250 specimens confirmed simultaneous hermaphroditism. Positive allometry was established in the length-weight relationship (b = 3.37).
