Sažetak
The paper is analyzing the relations between different dimensions of religious identity and political conceptions in the contemporary Croatian society. The main question of this paper is how much democratic changes influence the connection between religion and national politics. This paper is based on the results of an empirical research &laquo ; Modernization and Identity in Croatian Society&raquo ; conducted during the year 2004 on the representative sample of 1202 Croatian citizens (48.1% male and 51.9% female). In this sense we are using two instruments, one for the religious identity and one for the political conceptions. First one is mostly based on one instrument (drawn from the “ Aufbruch” research project) of religious identity, with twelve statements from which we got (by using the factor analysis) four dimensions of religious identity (traditional, sexual-moral, individualistic and socio-ascetic). Second one contains twenty four statements from which we got five political conceptions (ethnocentrism, clericalism, technocratism, socialism, Europeism and civil society).
