Sažetak
In the submitted work (Volume: Pgs: 7 + Title Pg ; Table: 1 ; References: 12) the authors’ aim was to estimate frequency of various types of errors occurring in the identification of war victims from Croatia. From the database of 3498 genotypes of missing persons’ relatives, the authors have identified and compared genotypes of 911 parent-child pairs with the following results: genotypes of 891 parent-child pairs matched perfectly ; 20 pairs did not match (one or more loci). In order to identify the cause of the lack of DNA putative parent-child matches, 40 blood samples were reanalyzed with following results: 32 samples were found identical as in the database ; 8 samples had erroneous genotype entered in the database: 4 of them being the result of a clear human error, the rest of non-human errors. Mismatches as to apparent lack of biological parent-child link have also been discussed. Frequency of human/non-human related errors in the DNA typing process while identifying victims of massive massacres (war victims) is an interesting subject. The manuscript is recommended for publishing in CMJ with minor revision suggested.
