Sažetak
Specific IgE (sIgE) and skin prick test (SPT) to SM: Lepidoglyphus destructor (LD) and Tyrophagus putrescentiae (TP) were performed in a random sample of 67 men (40.6 ą 7.7 yrs) from the urban continental region of Croatia. SPT was performed with Epipharm-ALK allergens. An urtica D+d/2 3 mm or greater was considered a positive skin reaction (PT+). sIgE was measured by immunoCAP technology UNI CAP (Pharmacia AB Diagnostics). Values <0.35 kUA/L were considered nonspecific (sIgEO) and values >0.35 kUA/L as increased (sIgE+). In relation to the level of sIgE, skin reactivity was analysed as the prevalence of PT+ and mean D+d/2. The prevalence of sIgE+ was to LD 10/67=14.9% and to TP 15/67=22.3%. Among subjects with sIgE+ there were PT+ to LD 9/10=90% and to TP 14/15=93.3% ; among subjects with sIgEO there were PT+ to LD 9/57=15.8% and to TP 10/52=19.2%. Among subjects with sIgE+ to TP there were sIgE+ to LD in 9/15=60%, indicating cosensitization between examined SM. Significant difference in mean D+d/2 in PT+ reaction between sIgEO and sIgE+ subjects was found only for LD (3.56 ą 0.68:6.2 ą 2.8, P<0.02) and not for TP. Our results show that sensitization to SM in the general population is 14.9% ; 22.3% respectively, indicating that SM are also ubiquitous allergens. Thus, there is a need for preemployment screening in working at risk for developing occupational respiratory allergic diseases.
