Sažetak
To manufacture clothing and footwear, anthropometric measurements used for the construction and modeling of clothing and footwear are necessary. Anthropometric measurements are obtained by comprehensive anthropometric measurements on a representative sample of the specific population. The results of these measurements of a statistically sufficiently large population sample are used as the basis for creating a national size designation system of clothes and footwear. The developed countries improve their anthropometric surveys every 15 to 20 years. In the Republic of Croatia the outdated size designation system of clothes and footwear introduced in 1962/63 in the former state (Autonomous Province of Vojvodina) under the name JUS is still in use. After Croatia became independent, the name JUS was replaced by the name HRN, but the data on the anthropometric measurement remained unchanged in spite of the fact that no measurements were made in the Republic of Croatia. Guided by this fact in 2004 together with other participating institutions the Faculty of Textile Technology of the University of Zagreb launched the project under the title "Croatian Anthropometric System" to create a new size designation system of clothes and footwear. During the investigations 30, 866 test persons from childbirth to the age of 82 years were measured. Fundamental characteristics of the first Croatian anthropometric measurements as well as the results have been dealt with in this paper. Characteristic body proportions of men, women and children are also presented.
