Sažetak
In urban areas noise is one of the main reasons qualities of live diminishing. Complaints of citizens who live near the roads with large traffic volume were more and more frequent. Higher noise levels in urban areas in many cases are results of roads vehicle circulation. According the regulations particular importance is addressed to protest quite areas such as hospitals, schools and residential areas. In this paper the noise protection of the one primary school in Zagreb (Croatia), which is situated nearly to City Avenue with enormous traffic volume (average annual daily traffic is 65000 vehicles per day), were presented. Noise protection was performed using the noise barrier. The project of noise protection consisting of acoustic, architectonic and static projects the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Civil Engineering was made. Protection barrier was built in September 2006 year. After that the short term measurements in front of and behind the barrier close to protected object were carried out in two periods of day (in the morning and in the afternoon) using the two sound level meters in the same time. Results of the calculations are compared with results of measurement on the site and very good agreement was obtain. Positive experiences with that the first noise protection barrier in urban area in Croatia was stimulated the City Government in Zagreb to implementation the noise protection measures also on the other locations in the city.
