Sažetak
Everyday traffic volume increase in urban areas, especially in cities, represents a very complex mission for traffic experts of finding optimal solution for traffic flow regulation. While observing cities, especially inner city circles, as areas with already defined environmental structure and fixed infrastructure elements like roads, it is obvious there is no simple solution for expanding that infrastructure. Solutions for such situations should be searched for exclusively by applying new methods like computer simulations. This article presents use of Synchro/Simtraffic simulation tool as elementary tool for finding optimal regulation of traffic flows on observed area of Žrtava fašizma square in city of Zagreb. Four different solutions, which all represent a variation of appling traffic lights on intersection of Žrtava fašizma square and kralj Zvonimir's street and allowance of two-way traffic in knez Višeslav's street have been offered for testing and simulation. To provide presented model with integrity it needs to be properly simulated, simulations are based on data collected by traffic counting in morning's and evening's peek hours during one week period. Given results represent strict warning regarding need for detailed planning and preparation of model building process, but they also represent extreme power and easiness of finding optimal solution for regulation of city traffic flows.
