Sažetak
This paper deals with the process of crystallization of Al(OH)_3 from the synthetic aluminate solution in dependence on temperature (30-60°C) and seed addition (100-200 g/dmˆ 3). In the process the time changes in Al_2O_3 concentration in the aluminate solution were followed by determination of the size and distribution of Al(OH)_3 crystal particles. The experiments were carried out isothermally in a laboratory reaction vessel of 0.250 dm_3, with double walls through which thermally stabilized water circulated at the operating temperature of the liquid ± ; 0.2°C. A magnetic mixer was used, at a rate sufficient to prevent sedimentation of particles during crystallization. The aluminate solution was synthesized from analytically pure NaOH and industrial Al(OH)_3 obtained by Bayer process. On the basis of experiments, the results are presented graphically, and the factors influencing precipitation and crystallization are discussed.
