Sažetak
Nowadays, Native American identity is conceptualized either in terms offered by cultural nationalism which insists on indigeneity or in terms of intercultural and hybrid, postmodernist notions of identity insisting on cultural mixing. Contemporary Native American author Sherman Alexie in his novel _Reservation Blues_ uses the form of blues to show how present-day reservation functions as a complex site of cultural communication and exchange, and how Native Americans may function as exemplary postmodern, hybrid subjects. However, their hybridity has been underwritten by their historically neo- and post-colonial status.
