Sažetak
Environmental protection and energy saving are crucial problems in all fields of production and industry. Research shows that around 7% of CO2 emission in the world is caused by cement industry, which inspired this research work with the idea of replacing part of the cement with by-products of thermal power plants and metallurgical industry. In this paper results of testing of mechanical properties (compressive strength) and durability properties (chloride diffusion, capillary absorption, water permeability and gas permeability) performed on three different concrete mix designs are presented. First type of concrete mixture (C) was prepared without any admixtures and was treated as referent mixture. Second concrete mixture (M1) was prepared as a copy of concrete used during the construction of the Maslenica Bridge, and third concrete mixture (M2) was similar to the second one, but with the significant replacement of the cement with slag, lime and fly ash. Results presented in this paper show that ecologically friendly (“ green” ) concrete prepared with by-products and cement has better durability properties then “ normal” concrete prepared with cement and on the other hand results show that both concrete mixtures have the same mechanical properties.
