Sažetak
This paper deals with some of the issues concerning the testing of the strength of adhesive bond related to the testing method, the type of PVAc adhesive and the effect of the pressure i.e. the thickness of the layer of adhesive at the bond. Test specimens were prepared in accordance with ISO 6238 and EN 204 standards, and testing was conducted on a machine for measuring bond strength by applying shear, tensile stress and compression stress. Stress was increased until the test piece broke, and the maximum force reached at that point was noted. On the basis of the break force measured and the share of the break area on wood the strength of a particular adhesive is measured. The results show that the testing method i.e. the form of the test piece and the manner in which force is applied have the biggest effects.
