Sažetak
The issue of the relationship between the Baltic and Slavic languages, together with a potential postulation about the Balto-Slavic language community, is one of the pivotal issues not only of the Baltic and Slavic studies, but also of the Indo-European studies in general. Different perceptions of the extent to which the Baltic and Slavic languages are related are today undoubtedly partially caused by the unsynchronized terminology and approaches to this complex issue. The potential Balto-Slavic language interphase is chronologically set into the period after the common Indo-European, and before the differentiated Pre-Slavic, East-Baltic and West-Baltic phases. The thesis on the Balto-Slavic language uniformity is based on over 1, 500 common words, on over a hundred plausible Balto-Slavic lexical innovations, on the considerable nominal system accentuation agreement, etc. Many of these common lexemes are reconstructed from the onomastic and accordingly, hydronymic corpus.
