Sažetak
A female green iguana was presented for necropsy with a history of generalized oedema, jaundice, intermittent loss of appetite and lack of coordination. The necropsy revealed a slightly enlarged liver with moderate amounts of fibrin on the liver's surface. Histologically, the liver consisted of numerous flattened bile ducts, surrounded with connective tissue and necrotic/apoptotic hepatic cells. BAsed on the gross morphology of liver, uniformity of microscopic lesions throughout the liver, low mitotic activity, lack of cellular atypia and absence of vascular invasion, this condition was diagnosed as excessive bile duct hyperplasia. The complexity of diagnosing neoplastic conditions in reptiles leaves this case open to further discussion. The bacterial culture revealed the presence of SAlmonella stanley in the liver samples.
