Sažetak
In this work a thin cylinder with two unequal diametrically opposite square holes, under axial compression, is analysed. The stress concentration factors around the cut-outs are defined using a proposed analytical solution based on the theory of thin shells, and the application of complex variable functions combined with conformal mapping in an interactive procedure. Appropriate program for PC was developed. The experimental results are obtained using the photoelastic stress freezing method. The cylinder model was made of "araldite B". In an especially designed device, cylinder was loaded in compression in an axial-symmetrically fashion. At the end of stress freezing cycle, the model was cut diametrically. The photoelastic analysis was done by photographing the area around the cut-outs in circularly polarised light. On the basis of analytical and experimental solution, the curves of the stress concentration factors around the holes are comparatively drawn. The accuracy of proposed analytical solution was shown to be very satisfactory for engineering applications.
