Sažetak
In most chopper applications commutation circuit components are optimized in order to obtain the maximum chopper efficiency. The commutation circuit designed in this way normally fails to commutate in case of a short circuit. The usual protection is the ultrarapid fuse on the input. On the other hand, bacause of the exceeding of the commutation capability of the chopper due to overcurrents or because of the destruction of the chopper components the commutation fails. An overvoltage will appear on the load. Under normal conditions overcurrent caused by the overvoltage will not blow the input ultrarapid fuse. Such operating conditions can not be tolerated.
