Sažetak
Toolmaking is the oldest profession that has always been the basis not only for the making of products, but also for the culture as a whole, and during history it has lived through substantial changes. By the development of technical, especially production sciences, toolmaking has joined experience with scientific knowledge that enable solving the increasingly difficult tasks. The time has come for toolmaking to be reengineered into two directions, and also to be provided with its own philosophy, as a part of the philosophy of technics. This shows that toolmaking meets all the high-set criteria required of production creativity. At the same time this enables improved reunion, reengineering of the designers and the toolmakers work. Our concept of designing the moulds for injection moulding of thermoplastics with morphological matrix will be discussed in the light of H. van Riessen's neutralising division of characteristics for technical products. The application of general assembly theory in moulds construction shows the poor results of dividing the design and toolmaking into separate activities, without interactions. The increasing application of computers in modern toolmaking requires reintegration of these two scopes of activities.
