Sažetak
Differences between speakers are greater in rate of speech than in rate of articulation. The differences in rate of speech do not nesessarily lead to the linear differences in speech segment duration but can be the consequence of various strategies of temporal organization of speech production. The speakers can unconsciously make difference between fast, natural and slow rate of speech. In the present investigation 4 students of the Zagreb University with normal speech and hearing status read a short passage and repeated 4 utterances 10 times in a raw in fast, natural and slow rate of speech. In repeated utterances the articulatory joint /p#m/ with enclitical, phonolexical, clausal and sentence boudaries between the members of the joint were analised. The results showed that speech segments are different from the point of view of compressibility and decompressibility and that lexical boundry can influence temporal parameters of segments in articulatory joint depending on rate of speech.
