Sažetak
Amorphous alloys or metallic glasses are the materials which can be regarded as a cogealed melt, solid but without crystalline order. Most of known metallic glasses were prepared by very fast quenching methods. They can be prepared in the metal-metal alloy systems and in the metal-metalloid systems. They have interesting physical and chemical properties which are the result of their amorphous structure. The structure of a metallic glass is well described by the radial distribution function RDF. Main experimental methods for obtaining RDF of metallic glasses are: X-ray and neutron scattering, EXAFS and EDXD. The measure of stability of metallic glasses is their resistance to crystallization. Several examples on the structure examination of metallic glasses at room temperature and elevated temperatures are discussed.
