Sažetak
Corporate networks are critical to success. Individual productivity is becoming increasingly dependent on e-mail, database applications, or real-time market data feeds. The profitability of the business depends on efficient communication between computers in network. At the same time, the movement of data has become more difficult to measure. Networks are diverse mixtures of devices and technologies. Many of the links in the network are not even under the direct control of network managers. Shared services, such as Frame Relay and Internet VPNs, are becoming the norm. The variation in the network's ability to handle different applications makes it difficult to determine where service is adequate and where it is undermining the business.
