Sažetak
Standards require that mechanical properties of longitudinal joints of extruded hollow sections that will be in exploitation exposed to a tensile loading match the mechanical properties of the material. Hollow sections having longitudinal joints of such quality can be manufactured if a minimal extrusion pressure is developed in the welding chambers of the hollow die. This paper shows a procedure for the determination of functional dependance of the pressure in the welding chamber on the material's flow stress, type of hollow die, and extrusion parameters. This is done by analyzing the energy distribution in the extrusion process and analyzing the stress distribution in the welding chamber of the hollow die. Investigations were conducted on the extrusion of hollow sections of AlMgSi0.5 (6063), AlZnMg1 (7008) and AlZnMgCu1.5 (7075) aluminum alloys at different extrusion ratios. The results prove that it is possible to find a linear relationship between the pressure in the welding chamber of a hollow die and the flow stress of the material, regardless of the extrusion rate or temperature. The results of the investigation could be useful for the industrial application
