Sažetak
The final phase in printing is drying process of printing inks on the printing substrate. The mechanism of drying and ink distribution on the substrate surface depends on the ink characteristics and also of many factors, like surface energy, roughness, sizing and porosity. The scope of the study is to evaluate the applicability of several nondestructive methods in the analysis of vertical and radial ink distribution on diverse Ink Jet prints. All applied methods are taken from different area of scientific fields. The limits in the analysis of Ink Jet ink distribution in z-direction were found out by destructive cross section method and by tree different non-destructive methods. Therefore we used Slit-scanning densitometer, photoacoustic spectroscopy and confocal laser microscopy - CLSM. The dye-based Ink Jet inks were printed on different types of coated and uncoated papers. The results demonstrate the correlation between results of depth profiling achieved by applied methods, which is of the greatest importance for the future use and application of studied methods. With this study we proved the reliability of all applied non-destructive methods in the analysis of Ink Jet inks distribution in z-direction.
