Sažetak
At the present time, it is unconceivable to organize suburban traffic without incorporating the railways. Due to the congestion of roads and the negative impact of road traffic on the environment, the use of railway as the backbone of suburban traffic is overwhelming. Such organization of traffic leads to the reorganization of railway traffic as a complete system. The paper presents the theoretical base of the fare zone system of suburban trains. Considering the city center as an origin-destination point, it is possible to define concentric circles of line propagation into the satellite communities in the surroundings of the city. The presented theoretical approach will be applied to the case of the city of Zagreb and its connections to its satellite communities. The fare zones will be defined, as well as the technology of suburban traffic.
