Sažetak
Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is characterized by small seeds, large number of seeds sown per unit area and a shallow drilling depth. Hence, drills have to satisfy all these requirements to enable good quality drilling. Uniformity of seed size and shape has a considerable effect upon drilling precision as well, particularly in drills with a mechanical drilling unit. It has been found out that an increase of the drill operating speed leads to changes in the values of drill performance indicators. Thus, an increase of operating speed results in a decrease of drilling precision. The best distribution of lettuce seed was recorded at a drilling speed of 1.9 km/h, when 85.5% of seeds were laid at the required spacing. The set drilling spacing increased parallel to increasing the drilling speed. At a drilling speed of 3.2 km/h 83.8% of seeds were laid at the required spacing, 83.5% of seed at the speed of 4.1 km/h, and 81.5% of seeds at the speed of 5.2 km/h. The reseach results obtained lead to the conclusion that the quality of lettuce seed drilling deteriorates with the increase of the drill operating speed, which is reflected in an increase of the set drilling spacing.
