Sažetak
The requests for decreasing the costs on one hand and increasing the availability of the ship’ s equipment on the other hand, pose a need for usage of the improved methods of decision making. These new methods need to be used when it comes to strategies of maintaining and using the new and improved management systems. The improvements are based on installing the corresponding organization and the integration of the information systems on the ships, both in the offices of the ship owners and in the shipbuilding industry. The following essay explains the structure of such information systems and the goals of installing them. By using these systems in case of technical problems on the ship, the availability of the ship systems can be increased due to the reduction of time needed to repair a problem.
