Sažetak
Interactions between the dye- or pigment-based ink-jet ink on one hand and four paper substrates – ink-jet photo paper, tissue, board and permanent paper - on the other were monitored using an optical microscope with CCD camera. The acquired digital image sequences were processed by image analysis software which enabled calculation of area and circularity of the formed dots in different time periods. Results showed that print quality of magenta dots on ink-jet photo paper was better when using dye-based magenta ink compared to the pigment-based one. The opposite is true for permanent paper. As expected, tissue paper exhibits almost instantenous and irregular penetration of both ink types. On board sample small and circular dots are produced with both inks, but ink drying is predominantly based on evaporation rather than sorption, which might lead to wicking or bleeding problems in actual printing process.
