Sažetak
The aim of this paper is to emphasise the importance and the significance of organisational structure in managing port authorities of the Republic of Croatia. The importance of the organisational structure is illustrated by the fact that it is the essential basis without which even the best effect in ali other managing areas will remain inefficient. In this paper the analysis of organisational structure of the Port Authority of Rijeka was performed, because it has been the first established port authority in the Republic of Croatia and serves as a model to other ports. The present organisational structure was investigated, which was then compared to the known scientific theories and theses. Besides the implemented organisational structures, the research also considers the models of organisational structures which have not been applied but may be implemented if necessary. Properly deftned organisational structure contributes to the realisation of the main objectives of the organisation: it satisfies the client (user) and consequently gains profit, a primary generator of growth and development ofthe organisation, i.e. the port authority.
