Sažetak
This paper elaborates minimisation of friction losses in the axial turbine bearing with hydrodynamic lubrication, which characterise friction that irreversibly converts some percentage of produced energy into heat, dissipating it into environment. It is presented that amount of this losses has minimum for the optimal choice of some basic parameters. If the inadequate choice of mentioned parameters are done, frictional dissipation can be several times higher than it is really necessary. Although, relative quantity of frictional dissipation in bearing is low in relation to other losses; the absolute quantity of energy losses in large energy production plants is so respectable that the tribological heat release in bearing can result in undesirable heat loading of cooling system, with direct influence to energy consumption of cooling system, capacity of emergency power supplier, etc. Thus, relatively small positive economical effect on such critical part of plant cumulatively induces additional savings in total investment and maintenance costs. In addition, cumulated energy savings reduces thermal loading of environment and emission of carbon dioxide (for quantity of saved fossil fuel), finally providing better environmental protection and cheaper energy.
