Sažetak
Durnig the research of so-called Medieval Historical Geography of Croatian and Hungarian part of Central-east Europe, a large role played necessity of study of Old Maps, i.e. from the medieval manuscript maps (15.th. c.) to the first printed map of Austrian king Joseph II (1763.-1787.) as well as study of all kinds of other "modern" different maps: Cadastre maps from end of 19.th. century (1: 2880), Austro-Hungarian Military map (1: 75 000) and modern topographic maps (1: 50 000 and 1: 25 000) printed after World War II. The special importance have Austro-Hungarian military maps because its depicted landscape features before modern land reclamation while Josephinische Landesaufnahmen recorded archaeological sites, strategical positions, toponyms and hidronyms in its oldest form of placename. Modern topographic maps, however, have the greatest importance since they are most detailed and have the greatest number of toponyms and mapped abandoned "main" roads which are today field roads. A detailed study of topography, toponymy and archaive sources and comparation with medieval charters shows that unknown placenames on the Old Maps belongs to the castles of lower nobility or small settlements disappeared from memory immediately after Ottomans conquest in 16.th.c. A great discovery for me is very valuable 18.th. century Old Map from 1639. made by Jean Baptist Pujadis: "Théatre de la guerre des armés imperiales en Hongrie, Bosnie, Serbie . . . . etc." Almost exact positions of castles, fortress, towns, expecially main roads and presend-day minor villages are intriguing. The evidence is detailed study of medieval topography of the Daruvar Area in Croatia. This study, i.e. methodology approach afford that we can speak of the reconstruction of Total Medieval Topography of the Daruvar Area.
