Sažetak
The talk advocates action research that is characterised by reflection and reflexivity. It implies self-awareness and critical awareness of the institution as well. Rather than seeing action research as a problem-solving inquiry, this talk advocates reflection about means (technical reasoning) and ends (educational values) of teaching, and evaluation of the qualities of the self in teaching. In the presenter's view, action research is not widely used because it is not well understood. There are several reasons for this. Firstly, it is different from scientific method, with which it is inevitably compared. Secondly, some practitioners, with a poor understanding of action research, call what they do action research when it is simply unevaluated, monitored action. Sadly, this gives action research a poor reputation. The talk demonstrated what implications action research may have on individual and institutional level. The talk is the result of action research conducted on several occasions well supported by theories of Elliott, Posch, Carr and Kemmis, Foucault and Habermas.
