Sažetak
From a teacher to a teacher-researcher … is trying to get the message across that action research is not a problem-solving activity. It is true that action research and some forms of practice are somehow similar. Both are directed towards the change, both are qualitative and often participative. Both tend to be cyclic, plan changes on understanding, and derive that understanding from evidence. However, most practice is much less reflective than action research. If the practice uses reflection, it is neither as deliberate nor as critical. I will offer examples from my research which started out of the need to solve a problem, but soon developed forms of practice in which my students and I reflected simultaneously on ourselves without dichotomy between reflection and action. Action research provided the opportunity to explore our dilemmas in a way that was less tied to the technical solutions. I may have started from a hermeneutical position of understanding and interpreting, but I approximated critical theory in attempting to change the practice.
