Sažetak
The aim of this study was to compare influence of maternal dental anxiety and previous medical experiences on their children's behaviour. The objectives were also to determine in vhich degree maternal anxiety influence children's fears of dental treatment and in which extent analysed variables play role in the development of child dental anxiety. It was also an attempt to rank potentially etiological factors contributing to fonnation of uncooperative child behavlour. The study was peformed on eiqhty nine pairs of mothers and their children eged 5, 5-12, 5 years, belonging to different socioeconomic classes. Children were divided into four groups ragarding sex and previous experience of dental trauma. Corah Dental Anxiaty Scale (DAS) was used to assess degree of mothers' (MDAS) end children's dental anxiety (COAS) and Broome's Child Medical Fear Questionnaira (CMFQ) to determine fear of medical procedures. The Hdlingshead Two Factor Index of Social Position (ISP) was computed to group children into socioeconomic classes Factor analysis was performed and two factors were extracted describing interrelationship between original four variables. The first factor was deffined by CMFQ and CDAS and was named the factor of child total tear. This facfor explained 40, 8 percent of total variance. The second factor was defined mainly by MDAS and ISP and was defined as factor of child's social environment This factor explained 28, 0 percent ot total variance. In conclusion, factor analysis suggests that factors contributig to the appearance of child dental anxiety can be identified as the factor of previous medical experience and child factor of child socia1 environment. Previous medical experience and Child social environment play an imponant role in the etiology of child dental fear.
