Sažetak
Neuroimmunology has enriched pathogenesis, diagnostics and the treatment of various neurologic diseases with new concepts. "Immunologically privileged condition" of the central nervous system is a relative notion. Entry of humoral plasma factors and immunocompetent cells into this medium depends on the degree of blood-brain barrier integrity. Manifestations of the immune response, hypersensitivity and autoimmunity of central nervous system in human pathology, are first of all, expressed by disseminated inflammation or primary demyelinisation. The picture of these entities is nowadays more complete owing to realisation of experimental models in animals. Acute polyradiculoneuritis and myasthenia gravis are the most common disorders of immunologic origin in the pheripheral neural tissue. Systemic vasculitis and tumours of nervous system also display a particular immunologic behaviour. Neuroimmunologic methods are more and more applied in the investigations of central nervous system structure and function in the fild of neurosciences.
