Sažetak
In spite of negative cosmetic appearance dermatitis artefacta is a quite frequent disease often located on prominent sites of the body. 52 patients (6 males and 46 females) with skin artefacts who attended the University Hospital Center have been investigated by basis of bizzare case history and quality of dermatological lesions.Skin artefacts are frequently seen in individuals who are immature personalities when facing a stressful life situation. The visible skin lesions can be interpreted as an attempt of nonverbal communication, actually a silent appeal for help. In more severe affected patients the recurrences can be frequent, so a longterm and intensive psychotherapy is often recommended.
