Sažetak
Transformation from a centrally planned to free market economy requires a coordinated performance of structural change, short-run economic policy and long-term strategic decision making, including an R&D policy. This simultaneous multi-level activity could be called macroeconomic management of the transition economy. Most literature on the transition process deals either with restructuring or with policy model issues, often treating them inadequately as separate issues. Until a consistent and complex synthesis of these multilevel transition ingredients is carried out, there can be no lasting success in transition.
