Sažetak
This presentation tries to clarify the status of concepts in literary criticism following Hegel's notion of "the labor of the concept" (die Arbeit des Begriffs). It arrives at the conclusion that literary crticism cannot uphold the differences between literalness and metaphoricity, the object-language of literature and the meta-language of literary criticism, reading of literature and writing about literature. As a result, literary criticism should distinguish and at the same time combine formal analyses of literary structures (empirical methodology), conceptual theoretizations (logical methodology), and historical, social, political, religious, and ethical evaluations (normative methodology).
